Part of Woven Form’s ‘Pavilion’ series, this hand-woven textile piece was custom-made for Metamorphoses with thin gold merino wool and fluffy rust Mohair yarn, secured at the top by a magnetized dark walnut wooden bar. A pavilion is a prominent part of a facade which projects outward: when attached to a wall, this textile––with its geometric patterns––becomes almost an architectural feature of the space. Each piece is one-of-kind and handmade by Charlotte Wakefield in her studio in South London. Characterised by its freedom and spontaneity, Charlotte’s style of weaving experiments with different textures and bold colours to create architectural lines and patterns inspired by London’s unique built environment. This custom work, with its subtle blend of overlapping beige and terracotta hues, is evocative of a Doric column, or a classical temple, glinting in the sunshine.
