Hop Step (Grey)

The ‘HopStep’ series of pots was created by Dutch designer Aldo Bakker in collaboration with J.Hill's Standard. The pots are designed to accompany you through the ceremonies of the everyday; each one functioning both as a sculptural and a practical object. The vessels are intended to hold precious liquids: be it wine, soy, sake or oil. They can also be used as an infusion chamber for teas and flowers. The combination of an angled line (to hold/refill) and a curved line, resembles a jump from stillness to action. The name of the series originates in the initial sketched gesture that Aldo needed to express. A bouncing tick. A hop and a step. Each pot in the HopStep series is made from a different material, this particular pot is made from grey coloured glass. Semi-translucent, the unique shape of the vessel creates a dramatic colour gradation, while still allowing the eye to look through the glass to perceive the structure of the pot.
