Jade Paton’s light green vase is a unique sculptural vessel whose bright glaze evokes the colours of spring. With it’s curvaceous forms and smooth surfaces, the vase appears almost anthropomorphic, and evocative of ancient fertility sculptures. This piece is representative of Jade’s  organic and experimental creative practice: exploring colours and shapes. The child of florists in Cape Town, South Africa, Jade grew up working with her hands, assembling bouquets, and building installations. Her ceramics reflect this upbringing: primarily vases, amphorae and other containers that can be used to hold floral arrangements. Her sougt-after works are both functional and sculptural, blurring the boundaries between art and design.
