Ondamarmo Side Table

This Green Onyx side table was designed and made by hand for Bloc Studios by Roman designer Federica Elmo as part of the Ondamarmo series which also includes a XL dining table, two smaller tables, three shelves, and a tray. The series was designed as an evolution of the shapes of the Onda metal tables from 2017, which experimented with the application of industrial finishes to expressive forms inspired by the undulations of water and the great vitality of sea life. Ondamarmo is an extension of this concept, but elevates it by intensifying the strong almost liquid plasticity of the marble. Elmo’s design practice centres the contrast between traditional forms and futuristic surfaces, prioritising material experimentation and mixing visual languages and technologies. In the process of exploring the textural and colourful possibilities of marble, the Ondamarmo series elevates the off-cut and recycled stone used into a uniquely precious object.
