This terracotta urn from the ‘Abba Est Vira Collection,’ is designed by Pretziada Studio and made by Walter Usai, a fifth-generation potter from Sardinia. The collection was made as a form study of classic water containers with different uses, such as jugs and canteens. Working with Walter’s father, Elvio, the designers challenged themselves to work on paring down the shapes to their absolute essence. These are forms that Elvio has been making since he began working in the family workshop as a child, first for utility and now for decoration. The name of the collection, ‘Abba Est Vira’ or —Water Is Life —is representative of a world in transformation. This is reflected in the lustrous burnt sienna texture of the urn, which blends tradition and innovation. The vase takes its name and its signature shape from the potters' hometown of Assemini.
