This is a beautiful porcelain vessel made using Milan Pekar’s innovative proprietary crystal glazes. The vase’s traditional shape and proportions enables the colourful and luminescent patterns created by the glazes to take center stage. Milan’s practice combines art and science, creativity and chemistry. In this unique crystalline vase, the organic shapes and warm neutral tones created by the glaze seem to transform the vase into a living thing. The swirling patterns are reminiscent of fossils embedded in rock, or seashells on the beach. A ceramicist based in Prague, Milan’s work has been widely exhibited internationally, and is included in several major collections including, for example, the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague and the Grassi museum Leipzig.
